Assumptions to check

  • Local tax and booking fees vary.

How this is calculated

Evaluate the model at evenly spaced input values, rounded to the allowed input step. Nightly rates and fees × nights + entered tax and fixed fees.
  1. 1Keep all other model inputs constant.
  2. 2Each row reports the same headline measure, not a separate forecast.

Assumptions and limits

  • Actual taxes, occupancy rules and platform charges vary by property and destination.
  • Local tax and booking fees vary.

Understanding lodging and stay budget — sensitivity table

Everyday editorial team · GEOINNOVATION CO., LTD · Published · Updated

What this calculation is for

A lodging budget combines nightly rates with the fees and taxes that can be missing from an advertised price. Dividing a shared booking among guests is different from multiplying a per-person quote.

How the method works

The entered nightly rate, recurring nightly fees, tax assumption and fixed booking fees produce a stay total. The guest count provides an even split of that shared amount. The displayed model uses: Nightly room rate, fees and estimated tax multiplied by nights, plus fixed fees; divide by guests.

A worked example

For an illustrative lodging and stay budget scenario, use Number of nights: 5 nights; Average nightly rate: 180 $; Lodging tax estimate: 12 %; Nightly resort or cleaning fee: 30 $; One-time booking fees: 60 $; Guests sharing total: 2 people. The modeled total lodging estimate is $1,236. These are example assumptions, not current prices, official benefit amounts or personalized advice.

Assumptions and real-world differences

Real lodging taxes can apply to only some charges or vary by stay length. Deposits, refunds, cleaning charges, exchange fees and cancellation terms require review of the booking contract. Actual taxes, occupancy rules and platform charges vary by property and destination.

Reading the number of nights sensitivity table

The tool evaluates the same model across a range of number of nights values while holding other assumptions constant. Choose a realistic low value, high value and number of points. Each row reports the same headline measure; the table is a set of conditional calculations, not a probability distribution or a forecast. Input-step rounding can make nearby rows equal.

Frequently asked questions

Is a cleaning fee always charged each night?
No. Enter a one-time cleaning fee as a fixed cost rather than a recurring nightly fee when that matches the booking.
Which inputs should I check before using this lodging and stay budget estimate?
Check number of nights, average nightly rate, lodging tax estimate, nightly resort or cleaning fee, one-time booking fees, guests sharing total. Match each field’s unit and time period, then compare the detailed rows rather than treating the headline alone as the complete answer.
Does the most favorable row show the most likely outcome?
No. The table assigns no likelihood to any row. It shows how the result responds to the chosen assumption, and you remain responsible for selecting a plausible range.
